Ben Seretan - My One True Love
I’ve been thinking a lot about death lately (those who know me know why). Today is the 3rd anniversary of my friend Jack Rose’s passing - an event that spiritually marked the end of an era in the Philly music scene. He was a pinnacle of our group of friends, gruffly making sure his hat was filled with dollars and coins for anyone sitting on the stage performing at our backyard bonfire parties if he weren’t up there himself creating magic on his guitar.
In Jack’s honor, I post this incredible new song by someone who has likely been highly influenced by Jack - carrying on the raga-style guitar work of an American mystic. A meditation of the highest order.
This track is part of his New Song EP, the third in a trilogy: New Space + New Music.

How is this not my job?!?!
“The Biblio-Mat is a random book dispenser built by Craig Small for The Monkey’s Paw, an idiosyncratic antiquarian bookshop in Toronto. Biblio-Mat books, which vary widely in size and subject matter, cost two dollars. … When a customer puts coins into it, the Biblio-Mat dramatically whirrs and vibrates as the machine is set in motion. The ring of an old telephone bell enhances the thrill when the customer’s mystery book is delivered with a satisfying clunk into the receptacle below…”
